Lighter Than Before: Carrying the Same History, Just Not the Same Weight

I've learned that healing is a strange thing. It rarely happens all at once, and most of the time you don't even realize it's happening.

I've been through some pretty significant changes in my life. Losing my dad, relationships changing, moving away from a city I spent years calling home, and having to figure out what the next chapter of my life was supposed to look like.

There were times when everything felt heavy. Not necessarily because of one particular thing, but because life has a way of piling things on top of each other.

What I've realized is that healing doesn't mean forgetting any of it.

I still miss my dad. I still think about the life I had in New York. I still reflect on relationships, decisions I've made, and things I wish I'd handled differently.

But those memories don't have to carry the same weight forever.

Eventually, you start laughing more. You make new memories. You find yourself genuinely excited about something again. And one day you realize you're carrying the same history, but it doesn't feel quite as heavy.

That's what Lighter Than Before means to me.

It's not about pretending the difficult things never happened. It's about recognizing that they don't have to control everything that happens next.

Healing isn't about becoming someone who never experienced pain. It's about becoming someone who can carry those experiences without being weighed down by them.
