Country Line: Leaving the Noise Behind
For almost eight years, New York City was home.
And I loved a lot about living there. The energy, the opportunity, the people, and the feeling that something was always happening.
The funny thing is, after years of living in one of the most exciting cities in the world, I started realizing how much I missed the things I'd grown up around. Being close to family. Summer nights on the river. Sitting outside with friends. Familiar places and familiar faces. Having absolutely nowhere important to be.
Moving back to Northern Kentucky in 2024 was a pretty significant change in my life. In some ways, it felt like coming home. In others, it felt like starting over. And I've come to appreciate just how much your surroundings can influence your happiness.
I've always been someone who loves summer. Warm nights, sunshine, boating, fireworks, music, and spending time with people I care about. Give me a boat, some friends, a cooler, and a beautiful day, and I'm pretty content.
For me, Country Line represents that feeling of leaving the noise behind. Not necessarily running away from anything, but moving toward the kind of life that makes you feel more like yourself.
I ain't running away
I'm just moving on
There's something freeing about crossing a line, whether that's a state line, a city limit, or just a boundary you've created in your own life, and realizing that you get to decide what happens next.
I still appreciate the excitement of New York. But I've also rediscovered how much I love the place where I grew up. And sometimes the best thing you can do is stop chasing what everyone else considers exciting and start appreciating what actually makes you happy.
Happiness isn't always found in bigger cities, bigger opportunities, or bigger experiences. Sometimes it's found in returning to the simple things that have always made you feel at home.
