Boys on the Dock: A Dock, a Boat, Good Music and the Right People

Some of my favorite memories have absolutely nothing to do with big accomplishments, expensive vacations, or anything particularly extraordinary.

They're just moments with friends.

A summer afternoon on the river. Music playing in the background. Somebody telling a ridiculous story that everyone has probably heard a dozen times before. A few drinks, a lot of laughter, and absolutely no reason to check the time.

I've always loved being on the water. There's something about the river that makes the rest of the world feel a little farther away. Work isn't quite as important. Whatever you've been worrying about doesn't seem quite as urgent. And when you're surrounded by good people, those ordinary moments have a way of becoming memories you carry for years.

As I've gotten older, I've started appreciating friendships differently. Life gets complicated. People get married, have children, move away, change jobs, and go through things you might not even know about. Finding time to get everyone together isn't always easy.

But when it happens, there's something special about picking up right where you left off. You don't necessarily need a big plan. You don't need an expensive destination or some elaborate event. Sometimes you just need a dock, a boat, good music, and the right people.

That's what Boys on the Dock represents to me. It's a celebration of friendship, summer, and those moments when life feels uncomplicated, even if only for a few hours.

Summer won't last forever
But nights like this stay together

The older I get, the more I realize that making memories isn't something that just happens. You have to make time for it. You have to get people together. You have to say yes to the afternoon on the boat, even when there are a hundred other things you could be doing.

Because eventually, those are the days you're going to wish you could have back.
